Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using UpFour. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by them.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
Welcome to UpFour. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website located at upfour.online and any related pages, features and services (together, the "Site"), operated by UpFour ("UpFour," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. If you are using the Site on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf.
2. Definitions
- "Content" means all text, guides, articles, infographics, images, metadata and other materials available on the Site.
- "Guide" means an instructional article published on the Site describing how to change settings on, troubleshoot or use a device.
- "You" or "User" means any person who accesses or uses the Site.
- "Third-Party Services" means services operated by others, including advertising, analytics and linked websites.
3. Eligibility
The Site is intended for a general audience. If you are a minor in your jurisdiction (generally under 18), you may use the Site only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. By using the Site you represent that you can form a binding contract and are not barred from doing so under applicable law.
4. Intellectual Property
4.1 All Content on the Site — including our articles, guides, infographics, site design, branding, logos, curation and descriptions — is created by UpFour or licensed to us, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The "UpFour" name and logo are our trademarks and may not be used without permission.
4.2 Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-commercial licence to access and read the Site, and to print or save individual pages for your own reference.
4.3 You may quote short extracts for commentary, criticism, news reporting, teaching or research, provided you attribute UpFour and link to the original article. You may not republish, syndicate, translate or redistribute our articles in whole or in substantial part, or use them to train or fine-tune a machine-learning model for redistribution, without our prior written permission.
4.4 Trademarks of others. Android and Google are trademarks of Google LLC. Samsung, Galaxy, Bixby and One UI are trademarks of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Microsoft, Windows and OneDrive are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. All other product names, logos and brands are the property of their respective owners. UpFour is an independent publication and is not affiliated with, authorised by, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with Google LLC, Samsung Electronics, Microsoft, or any device manufacturer or carrier. Use of these names is for identification and descriptive purposes only.
5. User Responsibilities and Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Site in violation of any applicable law;
- use automated tools, bots, scrapers or crawlers to systematically copy the Site or overload our infrastructure;
- interfere with, disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site or its servers;
- remove or alter any copyright, trademark or proprietary notices on our materials;
- use the Site to distribute malware or engage in fraudulent, harmful or deceptive activity; or
- republish our Content as your own or misrepresent its source.
6. Use of Our Guides — Important
6.1 Our guides describe how to change settings on, troubleshoot and maintain consumer devices. They are provided for general informational and educational purposes only. You follow them at your own risk.
6.2 Some steps described on the Site are irreversible or carry real risk of data loss — including factory resets, clearing app storage, deleting accounts, and flashing device firmware. Where we are aware of such a risk we try to say so clearly, but you are responsible for backing up your data before making changes to your device.
6.3 Device software changes constantly. Menu names, settings locations and behaviour vary between Android versions, manufacturers, carriers and regions, and may have changed since an article was last updated. Every article displays its last-updated date for this reason.
6.4 Certain actions may void your manufacturer warranty, breach your carrier agreement, or permanently disable device features — for example, unlocking a bootloader, flashing firmware, or tripping a hardware security fuse such as Samsung Knox. You are solely responsible for determining whether an action is appropriate for your device and circumstances.
6.5 Nothing on the Site is professional advice. See our Disclaimer.
7. Submissions and Corrections
If you submit a correction, comment, suggestion or other material, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce and incorporate it into the Site. We may review, decline, edit or remove submissions at our discretion. Please do not send us confidential information.
8. Third-Party Links
The Site links to Third-Party Services and external sources, including official documentation from Google, Samsung and Microsoft. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, policies or practices of any third-party site. Links do not imply endorsement, and your use of third-party sites is governed by their terms.
9. Advertising and Google AdSense
9.1 The Site is supported by advertising, including Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and/or other sites on the Internet.
9.2 You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at https://myadcenter.google.com, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising via https://optout.aboutads.info. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before advertising and other non-essential cookies are set, and for users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we use a Google-certified consent management platform to gather that consent.
9.3 We are not responsible for the content of advertisements or for the products or services they promote. Advertisements are visually distinct from our editorial content, and advertisers have no influence over what we publish.
10. Cookies and Analytics
10.1 The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for functionality, advertising and analytics. For full details, see our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
10.2 Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site. It sets cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, session duration, approximate location and device or browser data. You can opt out using Google's browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
10.3 Microsoft Clarity. We partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with the Site through behavioural metrics, heatmaps and session replay. For more information, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
10.4 Your choices. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where offered, through our consent tool. California residents and users covered by other privacy laws may have additional rights, including the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising; see our Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers and No Warranty
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that any guide is accurate, complete or applicable to your specific device, software version or region. Nothing on the Site is legal, financial or professional advice.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, UPFOUR AND ITS OWNERS, OPERATORS AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SITE OR ANY CONTENT — INCLUDING ANY DAMAGE TO A DEVICE, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF WARRANTY COVERAGE RESULTING FROM FOLLOWING ANY GUIDE — EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100.00). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless UpFour and its owners and operators from any claims, damages, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any law or third-party right.
14. Copyright Complaints and DMCA
We respect intellectual property rights and respond to notices of alleged infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Our full notice-and-takedown procedure, including what a valid notice must contain and how to file a counter-notice, is set out in our DMCA & Copyright Policy. Notices should be sent to hello@upfour.online with "DMCA Notice" in the subject line.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
15.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, to the extent applicable, the jurisdiction in which the operator of UpFour is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
15.2 You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site will be resolved in the courts having competent jurisdiction over the operator of UpFour, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts, except where prohibited by applicable law.
16. International Users
The Site is controlled and operated from the United States. We make no representation that the Site or its Content is appropriate or lawful in other locations. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes may be highlighted on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
18. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Site, in whole or in part, at any time and for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification and governing law — will survive termination.
19. Miscellaneous
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and UpFour regarding the Site.
