Why UpFour exists

UpFour started from a simple frustration: most phone advice online is a list of twenty things to try, ordered at random, in the hope that one of them works.

That approach is not neutral. It wastes time at best, and at worst it costs people their data — the classic example being someone factory resetting a phone, and losing every photo on it, to fix a problem that turned out to be lint in the charging port.

So we write the opposite way. Every troubleshooting guide is a diagnostic sequence rather than a list: each step rules something out, so you narrow the problem instead of shotgunning it. Where a step is risky or irreversible, we say so before you take it rather than after.

We also say when the popular advice is wrong. Closing background apps does not save battery. RAM boosters make phones slower. Clearing every cache on a schedule achieves nothing. These myths are repeated endlessly and they waste more of people's time than the actual problems do.

Guides are written against official documentation from Google and Samsung, and every article lists the sources it was checked against so you can verify anything yourself. Menu paths are given exactly, with the Samsung One UI variation noted where it differs from stock Android.

We get things wrong sometimes. Android moves settings between versions and manufacturers rename them freely. When a reader tells us a path has changed we correct it and re-date the article, rather than editing quietly — you are entitled to know when something was last actually checked.
