Where Are Samsung TVs Made? Country List by Region

Samsung TVs are built in Mexico, Hungary, Slovakia, Vietnam, India and elsewhere. Here is which plant supplies which market, and where the panels come from.

Short answer

Samsung TVs sold in North America are mostly made in Mexico, European sets come from Hungary and Slovakia, and Asian markets are served by Vietnam and India. Samsung is South Korean but assembles TVs close to the markets that buy them.

Samsung TV assembly by market. Mexico: North America — Tijuana and Querétaro. Hungary: Europe, alongside Slovakia. Vietnam: Southeast Asia and export markets. India: Chennai, for the Indian market. Brazil: Manaus, for South America.
Samsung builds close to the market being served, not in one central location.

Televisions are bulky and expensive to ship, so manufacturers build them near their customers. That single fact explains Samsung's TV factory map.

Mexico serves North America

If you bought a Samsung TV in the United States or Canada, it was most likely assembled in Mexico — Tijuana is Samsung's principal TV plant for the region, close enough to the border for short, cheap logistics under regional trade agreements.

Hungary and Slovakia serve Europe

Samsung's European TV production is centred on Hungary (Jászfényszaru) and Slovakia (Galanta). Sets sold across the EU and UK typically come from one of these.

Vietnam and India serve Asia

Vietnam handles large volumes for Southeast Asia and export markets. Samsung's Chennai plant in India serves the Indian domestic market, built under local manufacturing incentives in the same way as its phone production.

Samsung left TV manufacturing in China too

Mirroring its exit from phone manufacturing, Samsung wound down television production in China. Rising costs and a domestic market dominated by Chinese brands such as TCL, Hisense and Xiaomi made local production uneconomical.

Some components are still sourced from Chinese suppliers, but Samsung-branded TVs are not assembled there.

Where the panels come from

Assembly country versus panel origin. Where it was assembled: Printed on the rear label, Mexico, Hungary, Slovakia, Vietnam, India, Chosen for shipping cost and trade terms, Has no bearing on picture quality. Where the panel came from: QD-OLED from Samsung Display, South Korea, Most LCD panels bought in from third parties, Suppliers include BOE, CSOT and AUO, Normal across the entire industry.
Two separate questions. The panel is the expensive part and is sourced independently.

Assembly location and panel origin are different questions, and the panel is the expensive part.

  • QD-OLED panels are made by Samsung Display in South Korea. These are Samsung's own technology and its premium OLED line.
  • LCD panels for QLED and entry-level sets are largely bought in from third-party suppliers, including BOE, CSOT and AUO in China and Taiwan. Samsung exited most of its own LCD panel production, having concluded it could not compete on cost.

So a Samsung TV assembled in Mexico may well contain a Chinese-made LCD panel. This is normal across the industry and is not a sign of a lesser product — panel suppliers build to the buyer's specification, and Samsung's image processing is a large part of what distinguishes the final picture.

How to check where your TV was made

  1. The box — a "Made in ___" marking near the barcode.
  2. The rear label on the TV itself, next to the model and serial numbers. This is the most reliable source.
  3. The model number encodes the region. A code containing UN typically indicates North America, UE indicates Europe, and UA indicates Asia and Australia.

That last one is worth knowing when buying second-hand or imported: the region prefix tells you which market a set was built for, and therefore which tuner and voltage standards it expects.

Does the country of assembly affect quality?

No. Samsung builds to the same specification at every plant, and the panel — the component that most determines picture quality — is sourced independently of the assembly site.

What genuinely varies by region:

  • Tuner standards. ATSC in North America, DVB in Europe. An imported set may not receive broadcast channels.
  • Voltage and plug. 120 V versus 230 V.
  • Smart TV apps and services. The app selection differs by region.
  • Warranty. Normally valid only in the country of purchase.

These are real reasons to buy the regional model rather than import one, and they matter far more than which factory assembled it.

Is Samsung a Korean company?

Yes. Samsung Electronics is South Korean, headquartered in Suwon, South Korea. Manufacturing is global, ownership and design are Korean. See is Samsung Korean or Japanese for more on the corporate background, and where Samsung phones are made for the handset supply chain, which is quite different.

In short

Samsung TVs are assembled close to where they are sold — Mexico for North America, Hungary and Slovakia for Europe, Vietnam and India for Asia, Brazil for South America. Panels come from Samsung Display in South Korea for QD-OLED, and from third-party suppliers for most LCD sets. None are assembled in China.
